Before we start any drilling activities for your private water supply or ground source heating borehole, it’s essential to conduct an independent hydrogeological survey, commonly referred to as a prognosis report. This is a critical step to ensure the feasibility of the water quantity and quality.
Water boreholes are designed for longevity. They are constructed with very strong plastic liners that extend to the bottom of the drilled hole. The liners allow water to flow into the borehole, and also provide structural stability to prevent the borehole from collapsing. Due to the virtual indestructability of the well liners, a borehole can potentially remain functional for hundreds of years!
This is very dependent on the geological conditions and the depth required for drilling. We must also be very careful to ensure the stability of the borehole, so this is a factor that can also affect the timeline. On average, the process usually takes between three and four days.
